Almost a year.

Wow, I cannot believe that I have been enjoying this kid for almost a year. New teeth are here soon I think, those hands are in that mouth all the time and night time has been a bit wakeful. Walking has taken over crawling in this house and now that means that stuff gets scattered around the house at an alarming rate. I have given up clearing away the clutter except for once a week. It is all worth it, he is am amazing child for sure.

Janurary at home

I realized that we spend so much time just hanging out at home looking at things, playing with toys and being silly, that when the sun comes out(like today) I realize how much fun it is going to be in the spring when we can spend much more time outside. Inside is fun for now, but it can get a little boring for me. I am thinking that some sensory projects are in order soon.

Rhythm of the Home

I just discovered this wonderful resource. I needed some inspiration for winter decorating, celebrating and ideas for childrens gifts and such, and I like the connection to nature and seasons and use of natural materials it includes.

In other news, teething is what is happening here. As you can see everything is a teething toy, including the homeopathic teething tablets that help so much with the pain and restlessness. Thank you Hyland's!

My little family

These days are spent just playing with the little guy, sometimes forgetting or to busy with him to get dinner made. I know that this time goes so quickly and that soon he will be crawling, then walking around the house and then our time will be spent chasing him around. I love these times and what we have.

4 months today!

Really? I cannot beleive it has only been 4 months and at the same time I cannot believe that my little baby is already a 4 month old.

He has changed so much. He is so big and his personality even bigger. Right now he loves jumping if you sit him on your lap with his feet on the floor, he will jump with a huge smile on his face until you tire of it and change his position. A johnny jump up is in our near future I believe. He also loves being on his belly as you can see here. As soon as you place him on the floor on his back he flips over and is now beginning to flip back though he likes to do that mostly on the bed. Something he hates is driving back from the food co-op, as he usually naps on the way there or even while I shop and is wide awake and bored for the drive home, so sad, I wish we lived closer.

I would like to try to get more things made up in my studio before I think I will have to give it up or at least part of it to this little guy at some point when he needs more space than a baby needs. We will see, right now he is happy to just be where ever I am watching me or looking at his toys. Sophie the giraffe is a favorite.

Wow, What a month it has been. I am finally feeling like I can wrap my head around this hole baby/mama thing, and I love it. It has been a bit of a challenge, but then nobody told me it would be easy. He has grown so much I can't even believe the first picture was not that long ago.
I should probably go get dressed while he sleeps in his hammock. Sometimes I forget to take advantage of these moments for stuff like that.

Felt Food!

My first attempt at making felt food.

Sitting around waiting for this baby to arrive has driven me to make felt bacon! I don't even eat bacon, but the family who this is going to enjoys it so I thought it would be appropriate.

It was a lot of fun to figure out how to make them. It makes me excited for making all kinds of food for my child. I just need some good ideas!

This is for my sister who will be coming down to house sit while we are on a camping/reunion/stampeade extravaganza.

I found this at a sale recently, the family that sold it were furniture restorers and the father was a sewer who fixed sewing machines as well. I hope this is a good machine! It sure looks pretty in its wooden table.

Skirt!

I made this skirt from my new skirt book Sew What! Skirts. There are no patterns in the book, it teaches you how to draft your own patterns. I think that this was a good first try I think that I need to adjust the pattern slightly, it is not quite perfect. It is a wrap around skirt without ties only snaps. I like snap tape but I do not like how much I paid for it at the local fabric store. I will keep hunting for a better deal. Over all I am happy with the skirt, I just need a good sunny day to try it out outside!

My new hat. I made it while Chris was napping on sunday. I think I will attempt to make a pattern from it. It is super comfy, I have been wanting a hat with a brim for a while but they are always too big for me. This one is perfect.

I just got a nanny job where I will be taking care of a 6 year old boy and a 3 year old girl and a 5 month old boy so I figure I am going to need something strap the baby with on with while I chase the other two around. It should be interesting, I start on the 7th.

lazy morning, getting used to the idea of fall. a little nervous about moving, mostly packing is what i would like to ignore.

i have been doing physical therapy to make the pain leave my body and to make it easier to walk. this whole surgery thing has really messed with my life. i am hoping that by the time i leave seatttle i will be able to resume normal activitied without the thought "why did i do this to myself?".

my first finished hat to give away. for rocket.

getting things done.

today i will attemp to get something done before i head off to port townsend for heidi's gallery opening. i am working on finalising what is going in my own show, and maybe seeing hers will help me to decide. gosh there is so much to do in this month.

to school to school i go.

i need coffee, and i need someone to sit for a photo today. we we see what happens.
